- Part-time employees are not eligible for vacation or floating holidays.
- Vacation, sick time, and floating holidays may not be rolled over and must be taken within the calendar year they are granted.
- An employee should provide his or her supervisor with a request for time off at least 15 days prior to the proposed date of the time off for their approval (or if the time off was not foreseeable, as soon as possible). Supervisor’s discretion is allowed for unforeseen circumstances. Business circumstances, staff workload, and other factors are considered by supervisors when approving time off. Supervisors may deny the request if the use of paid time off will “unduly disrupt” the department's operations.
- Unused vacation time which has not been used for the calendar year will be paid as a cash benefit upon resignation or termination except in circumstances involving negligent or illegal conduct.
- GOI has the exclusive right to interpret and apply this policy.
