Purpose:

To promote a healthy, safe, and professional work environment by prohibiting smoking and the use of tobacco or nicotine products in all Global Outreach International facilities and work areas.

Guidelines:
1. Prohibited Activities
Smoking is not permitted in any organization building, facility, vehicle, or designated work area at any time.
For the purpose of this policy, “smoking” includes:

Employees who violate this policy may be subject to corrective action, up to and including termination, depending on the severity and frequency of the violation.

GOI promotes stewardship of health and personal responsibility. Maintaining a smoke-free environment reflects our commitment to providing a workplace that honors the well-being of all employees and visitors.
Smoking is not permitted in any organization building, facility, vehicle, or designated work area at any time.
For the purpose of this policy, “smoking” includes:
- Cigarettes
- Cigars
- Pipes
- Chewing tobacco
- Electronic smoking devices
- E-cigarettes and vape products
- Any similar nicotine or tobacco delivery system
- This policy applies regardless of whether a product contains nicotine, is tobacco-free, or is marketed as a wellness or vapor device.
2. Outdoor Smoking Expectations
- Employees who smoke must do so only in designated outdoor areas, if such areas exist.
- Smoking near building entrances, windows, or ventilation intakes is prohibited to ensure smoke does not enter workspaces.
- All smoking-related waste must be disposed of properly.
- Supervisors must ensure outdoor locations comply with local laws and maintain a professional appearance for visitors and donors.
3. Compliance and Courtesy
- Employees should be respectful of coworkers, visitors, and shared work areas.
- Employees returning from smoke breaks must follow professionalism standards, including minimizing smoke odor when returning indoors.
- HR should address complaints consistently to avoid conflict or perceptions of unequal enforcement.
4. Policy Violations
Employees who violate this policy may be subject to corrective action, up to and including termination, depending on the severity and frequency of the violation.

- Supervisors must document violations and consult HR before issuing discipline to ensure consistency and prevent claims of harassment or discrimination.
